C.B.S.E READING CHALLENGE (2023 - 24)
CBSE Reading Challenge has been successfully organized since 2019 under the CBSE Reading Mission Programme, The CBSE is organizing the Reading Challenge for the academic session 2023-24.
The CBSE Reading Challenge is an exciting opportunity for students in classes 6th to 10th of CBSE-affiliated schools to enhance their reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
Below are the key details of the challenge:
1. Language and Levels: The challenge is available in both Hindi and English languages. It caters to two levels of students: classes 6th to 7th, and classes 8th to 10th.
2. Objectives: The contest aims to engage participants in various reading stimuli and assess their abilities in the following areas:
- Reading with comprehension and accuracy.
- Constructing meaning by retrieving information, relating text with prior knowledge, and integrating information.
- Interpreting information and drawing inferences.
- Reflecting and evaluating to judge the quality and credibility of the text.
3. Two Rounds: The challenge is conducted in two rounds: within school and inter-school.
- Round One (First Stage): All students of classes VI to X in CBSE-affiliated schools are eligible to participate in this round. Schools need to register their students for this stage.
- Round Two (Second Stage): Schools registered in the first stage can nominate and register ten students (two best students from each participating class) for the Hindi and English version of the Challenge.
4. No Participation Fee: There is no fee for students to participate in any of the two stages of the CBSE Reading Challenge. It is designed as an enrichment activity for students.
5. Speed and Accuracy: The challenge focuses on both speed and accuracy. Students will be presented with a reading challenge paper that includes various reading tasks followed by objective-type questions.

India celebrates National Sports Day on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand. The day is also dedicated to the nation’s sports heroes and champions, honoring their contribution and dedication towards bringing laurels to the country, with the aim to raise awareness about the values of sports: discipline, perseverance, sportsman spirit, and teamwork, and to encourage the public in large to take up sports and make it an integral part of their lives while emphasizing on the importance of being fit and healthy.

Artful Preparations Poster Competition for Promoting Disaster Preparedness Disaster Resilience and Management
National Disaster Management Authority celebrates its foundation day every year to underscore its commitment to various disaster management. It captures attention, engages viewers, and encourages citizens to become agents of change by embracing preparedness as an essential part of daily life.
NDMA in collaboration with MyGov India is hosting a Poster Competition for Promoting Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Resilience and Management with an aim to raise awareness, educate the citizens, foster a culture of resilience and empower individuals and communities to take proactive steps in reducing the impact of disasters and building a more resilient society.

Project Veer Gatha 3.0
Veer Gatha, a project launched by the Government of India as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) has introduced several events to commemorate the 75th year of India's Independence with the goal of inspiring school children to make them aware of the stories about the National Heroes and the brave hearts, to disseminate their acts of bravery and life stories. Students were encouraged to take part in a variety of activities like the framing of poems, paragraphs, and essays, the painting competition, and the multimedia presentations on the Medal Winners.
After the overwhelming response and success of Veer Gatha 1.0 and 2.0, the Ministry of Defence in coordination with the Ministry of Education has now decided to launch Project Veer Gatha 3.0 which is proposed to culminate with the Prize Distribution Ceremony. The project will be open to all schools in all States and Union Territories.
Project Veer Gatha 3.0 shall be organized between 08th August 2023 to 17th October 2023.

Evaluation of Entries:
i) Project Veer Gatha 3.0 will have 3 levels: District level, State/ UT Level and National level.
ii) The Evaluation will take place at every level i.e. District level, State level/ UT Level and National level. The teachers of Army Schools/ Navy Schools/ Air Force Schools/ Sainik Schools/ other Forces' Schools/ State Board Schools/ CBSE Schools will be involved in evaluation on a nomination basis.
iii) Evaluation at District Level: The State Nodal Officer/ SPDs will appoint District level Nodal Officers for evaluation of entries at the District level. The District Nodal Officers/ District Education Officer will engage DIET and other officials of the concerned State/ UT/ district for the evaluations at the district level.
iv) Evaluation at State/ UT Level: The responsibility of evaluation at State / UT level will be of the Nodal Officers of States/ UTs or SPDs. The Nodal Officers of States/ UTs or SPDs will engage DIET/ SCERT/ other education officials of the concerned State/ UT for the evaluations at State/ UT Level.
v) National Level Evaluation: Evaluation at National Level shall be conducted by the National level Committee which would be constituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Rewards and Recognition
There will be winners at every level. The number of winners to be declared is as follows:
• National Level - 100 winners (Super 100). No Veer Gatha Winner (at the National Level) of earlier versions will be included in the 100 winners (at the National Level) of Veer Gatha Project 3.0.
Students whose entry is uploaded at the Portal (CBSE/MyGov) will get an E-Certificate of Participation.

“Ek Bharat Sanskriti Sangam” campaign has been launched to celebrate ‘Diversity’ and ‘Art’. The essence of this campaign is to encourage participants (Aged 18 to 30 years) to recognise and embrace other cultures and thus in the process of doing it, instilling the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”. This is a unique opportunity for participants to display their talent in art forms such as Dance, Singing, Photography and Painting, and Sculpting/Sketching. The only condition is that participants would have to perform in art forms/languages of other States/UTs (other than their home state).
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Step 1: Choose a place from Bucket-1/Phase-1 places (except your Residence State/UT).
- Step 2: Choose a Category for your performance.
- Step 3: Your Performance/Artwork should relate to the place you have selected. Record your performance and post it on any of your social media pages viz. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
- Step 4: Use Main Hashtags (#EkBharatShreshthaBharat and #EkBharatSanskritiSangam) and Category Specific Hashtags for your post.
- Step 5: Register yourself on Ek Bharat Sanskriti Sangam Campaign Page (Here). On registration, your User ID and Password will be sent to your E-mail ID.
- Step 6: Log in to Ek Bharat Sanskriti Sangam Page (Here) and submit the link of your Instagram/Facebook/YouTube/Twitter Post only.
- Step 7: Get as many likes on your social media post. Your post will also be displayed in the “Performance Gallery” (Here). Get people to vote for you on Performance Gallery.
- Step 8: At the end of Phase, upload a screenshot of your social media post (showing the number of likes received), in the “Like Scorecard” tab of your login page. Please also mention the number of likes received. The deadline for uploading Phase-1 screenshots is 15.00 hrs. (i.e., 3 PM), 21st August.
- “Ek Bharat Sanskriti Sangam” is a 3-month campaign divided into 3 phases commencing on 29th July 2023 and concluding on Ekta Diwas i.e., 31st October 2023.
- The campaign is open to Indian citizens. Participants must be between the age group of 18 to 30 years.
- Participation is invited in the following categories:
- Dancing (Traditional, Regional, Classical, Folk etc. of the selected State/UT)
- Singing (Traditional, Classical, Regional, Folk etc. of the selected State/UT)
- Painting/Sketching/Sculpting (Monuments, Culture, Festivals, Places, Traditional art forms etc. of the selected State/UT). Please note that digital painting is not permitted.
- Photography (Monuments, Culture, Festivals, Places etc. of selected State/UT).

Technical Parameters
- The video shall not be more than 2 Minutes (120 seconds), including the beginning and end credits. Films/Videos exceeding this time limit are liable to be rejected.
- The minimum length should be 30 seconds including credits.
- Both colour and monochrome videos in time-lapse/normal mode will be accepted.
- Please ensure the Films/Videos are preferably shot in a good quality camera/mobile phone and are in the ratio 16:9 in Horizontal format or vertical format/reel/shorts format
